Animal in immediate danger? Contact local law enforcement or animal control first. IARN is not a law enforcement agency and cannot replace an official report. We can offer assistance, help document concerns, and work alongside authorities after a report is made. Always request a case number and the responding officer’s name, and record the date and time of each report.

Cruelty Investigations

We respond to reports of intentional harm, unsafe confinement, and serious animal welfare concerns.

Neglect Cases

Lack of food, water, shelter, veterinary care, and basic necessities should be documented and reported.

Hoarding Situations

Too many animals, unsanitary conditions, untreated medical needs, and overcrowding can quickly become dangerous.

Do not put yourself in danger or trespass. Document only what you can safely and legally observe.

Livestock concerns

Report Livestock Concerns to the Right Agencies

For livestock concerns, contact your local law enforcement agency first and request a case number. After a police report has been made, contact the appropriate Idaho State Department of Agriculture resources for your district.

  1. Make a report with local law enforcement and request the case number.
  2. Contact the Brand Inspector, ISDA State Veterinarian, and ISDA Livestock Investigator for your district.
  3. Reference the law enforcement agency and case number when reporting the concern to those agencies.

After You Have Reported It

After making reports to the appropriate authorities, email the agency names, case or report numbers, contact names, dates, and supporting documentation to admin@idahorescue.org.

You Report

Submit as much information as possible, including photos, videos, locations, dates, and any agency contacts you may already have.

We Review

Our team reviews the information provided. If the concern does not appear to be a law enforcement matter, we may offer guidance, resources, or recommendations.

Agency Contacted

When appropriate, we may refer information to animal control, law enforcement, the ISDA, or another agency with authority to investigate.

Follow Up

When possible, we may follow up for additional information or documentation. Some investigations may remain active for weeks or months.
